PVC-M pipe
PVC-M refers to modified polyvinyl chloride pipe, which is characterized by the material itself bearing less pressure.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) piping system has a history of nearly 70 years and has been the most widely used plastic piping system in the world because of its high modulus, high strength and low price. However, there was a period when performance levels of PVC piping systems did not improve much, and the growth rate slowed down in some countries and application areas.

Compared with PVC-U, the anti-seismic performance of PVC-M pipe, a modified product of PVC pipe products, is better than that of PVC-U.
The long life of PVC means that the material itself has a longer life than PE and other plastics when it is under little or no pressure, and the long-term strength of PVC is ≥25Mpa, while PE100≥10Mpa. However, PVC is slightly “brittle” compared to PE. That is, it is easy to be injured when it is impacted, and its strength will become lower in the long term. Therefore, in the national standard, UPVC uses an insurance coefficient of 2.5 (pipes below ∮90) or 2.0 (pipes above ∮110) to design pipelines, while PE only uses an insurance coefficient of 1.2 (PE100) to design pipelines. That is, as long as UPVC solves the relative brittleness, it can not only Improving the safety performance of pipes (there is no need to use such a high insurance factor) can also solve the problem of adaptability to current domestic construction conditions.
In order to better facilitate users, we are committed to improving the toughness of PVC and reducing the design insurance factor. At the same time, a series of studies have been conducted to allow users to use PVC pipes with more confidence. In order to ensure the durability of toughness, the method of only increasing toughness without plasticizing was adopted, and finally the PVC-M pipe was developed.
On the premise of basically not reducing the long-term strength, the toughness reaches an impact that is 5~10 times higher than that of UPVC, and the notched impact strength is ≥30Mpa (20℃), which is more than three times that of UPVC. After the toughness is increased, the damage sensitivity is reduced, and the pipe is less likely to be injured or the degree of injury is greatly reduced, which has less impact on long-term strength. Therefore, the design safety factor can be adopted as 1.6. (Under the above toughness, the coefficient has been verified by many countries, not to mention that our company’s PVC-M toughness index exceeds its test toughness). Although the cost per ton of PVC-M is higher than that of UPVC, due to the low value of the insurance coefficient, the wall thickness becomes Thin, so the price per meter is no higher than UPVC.
In this way, PVC-M pipes not only have the advantages of PE pipes, but also have the advantages of easy installation and maintenance of UPVC. At the same time, the price is no higher than that of UPVC pipes and about 30% lower than PE pipes per meter. Therefore, it has broader prospects than UPVC and PE pipes.
